Starting today, November 29th, begins Swipe Out Hunger's volunteer week! Members of the Swipe Out Hunger board and other interested Penn students are going to be volunteering at the Soup Kitchen at Hillel and SHARE food program.
Warm food, warm hearts, warm souls
The Soup Kitchen at Hillel is a space for members of the West Philadelphian community and Penn students to gather together over a warm meal. Every Sunday, the volunteers for the soup kitchen prepare the dining area and a meal, and then serve the community members. Post serving the meal, the volunteers are able to sit down and talk with the attendees.
The SHARE food program is dedicated to bringing affordable, wholesome food to various communities. In the beginning of SHARE, SHARE was primarily a food coop, but has now developed into an independent non-for-profit organization. Penn students that are going to SHARE through Swipe Out Hunger are going to be assisting SHARE members at the warehouse.
