What We're Doing on Campus:
  • Food insecurity is a major problem on college campuses across the country; students balance the pressures of paying for tuition, housing, and books in addition to buying food. According to recent surveys, about 40% of the students at the City University of New York and 25% of students at the University of California have experienced food insecurity during their college careers.

  • At Penn, about 8% of students qualify as high need and even more are food insecure. Swipe Out Hunger, in partnership with Penn Dining and Penn Student Financial Services, aims to provide students at risk of food insecurity with meals through collecting meal swipe donations from fellow students.
